Event to Raise Funds to Purchase Accessible Tables and Chairs for Adults with Disabilities
We are once again giving the community the opportunity to celebrate “Pi Day” in 2017 in a very unique, delicious — and philanthropic — way. We are hosting our third annual “Pi(e) Day Event” fundraiser – and lining up some local business leaders who have agreed to take a “pie in the face” to help raise funds and give new meaning to the idea of “pies with a purpose.”
On March 14th — the day set aside to honor the mathematical constant of Pi (3.14) — LifeROOTS will be joining with Builders Source Appliance Gallery for the 3rd Annual Pi(e) Day Event. The event will take place at Builders Source Appliance Gallery, located at 308 Menaul Blvd. NE from 5:30 p.m. – 7:30 p.m.
The LifeROOTS Pi(e) Day Event will raise funds to purchase items needed for individuals with disabilities. This after work/all-you-can-eat event allows donors to enter for just $20.00 to taste a wide variety of pies– including fruit pies, pizza pies and other gourmet pies – and will feature cooking demonstrations from some of the area’s premier chefs. In addition, what makes this event truly unique each year is LifeROOTS “Throw a Pie in the Face of Management” event – giving people the opportunity to throw a whipped cream pie at their boss, co-worker or a number of local business leaders who have volunteered to be part of the fun and fundraising. Over the past two years, people throughout the community have lined up for their chance to “let the pies fly” in the faces of some of the region’s top executives – including Paul DiPaola, Regional President of US Bank and John Garcia, Executive Vice President of the Home Builders Association. Last year’s LifeROOTS Pi(e) Day Event raised enough money to purchase 26 high quality lightweight aluminum wheelchairs for individuals with disabilities.
“We are thrilled to once again be joining with Builders Source Appliance Gallery for this opportunity to provide the community with such a fun way to celebrate Pi Day here in Albuquerque while helping to raise money to help those with disabilities,” says Kathleen Cates, CEO of LifeROOTS (who for the past two years bravely took a pie to the face to help in the fundraising effort.) “This year, we’ll be gathering some of the region’s most notable chefs in our kitchens to prepare some truly spectacular pies, and we’re excited to once again be hosting this unique fundraiser,” adds Paula Valdez, Marketing Coordinator at Builders Source Appliance Gallery.
The LifeROOTS Pie Day Event is accepting sponsors for this unique and fun event, and welcomes business leaders who are interested in helping raise money for a good cause by being part of this year’s Pi(e) Day Event fundraiser.
