In conjunction with National Pi Day on Tuesday, March 14th (3.14), LifeROOTS once again provided the community with an exciting, and unique, family Pi(e) Day Event to celebrate the day … while raising money for the important cause of helping children and adults with disabilities, and purchasing accessible tables and chairs. The event, held in conjunction with our partner Builders Source Appliance Gallery celebrated everything pie — with all-you-can-eat fruit pies, pizza pies, etc. from some of the region’s top bakeries and restaurants, and cooking demonstrations by some of the area’s top chefs. In addition, we also had a number of local business leaders who volunteered to get “pie’d for a purpose” at the day’s main attraction — the “Throw a Pie in the Face of Management”event! This unique event gave the community the opportunity to throw a pie in the face of local business/community leaders who volunteered for the opportunity to “get creamed for a cause” — with leaders such as Paul DiPaola, Regional President of US Bank, Steven Radolinsky of New Mexico Home Deals, Andrea Garcia of Blake’s Lotaburger, John Garcia of Home Builders Association of Central New Mexico and Brian Colon (who is running for Mayor of Albuquerque), among others, getting pie’d at this year’s event!
In addition to already raising even more money than last year at this year’s event (the donations are still rolling in and we’re awaiting the final total), we created a great deal of awareness about LifeROOTS through this unique, fun — and delicious — annual event. We were able to communicate important messages about LifeROOTS in appearances on KRQE This Morning and Good Day New Mexico, as well as having news about the event appearing in print outlets such as Albuquerque the Magazine, New Mexico Kids and others. Most importantly, we brought the community together on behalf of LifeROOTS for a day of fun and fundraising for a great cause — celebrating “pies with a purpose” … and all working together to help LifeROOTS and those we serve.
We’ll keep you posted about our final fundraising total and how many accessible tables and chairs we were able to purchase with the proceeds from the event… and looking forward to our 4th Annual Pi(e) Day Event next year!
