LifeROOTS is pleased to announce that Dawn DalPorto and Leticia Bernal have been named to our Board of Directors — bringing a wide range of both professional and personal experience to the LifeROOTS Board. The appointment of Dal Porto and Bernal to the Board of Directors continues to strengthen the role of LifeROOTS in providing important programs and services to help those with disabilities throughout the community – with our Board members providing guidance and oversight, working to ensure that we meet our mission and helping fundraising initiatives.
Dawn DalPorto is Vice President/Branch Manager at United Business Bank. With more than 20 years of experience in the financial industry, she brings valuable skills in financial planning and business growth to the Board and the organization. She is the Co-Chair of Money Smart Week of Albuquerque, part of a national initiative to provide financial literacy programming to help community members better manage their personal finances. In addition, she is a former Board Member of NM Make a Wish Foundation and has served as an Ambassador of the Rio Rancho Chamber of Commerce, Treasurer of the Rio Rancho Soccer Club and on the Funding Committee of the United Way. A graduate of the Western States School of Banking at the Anderson School of Management, she is also a graduate of Leadership of Sandoval County and received a Small Business Banker Certificate from the American Bankers Association. Her financial industry insight and experience will play an important role at LifeROOTS, where she will also be helping to create financial literacy training with both employees and LifeROOTS members.
Leticia Bernal has more than a decade of experience in the restaurant industry where she has owned and operated numerous restaurants throughout the region. She is the owner of the Pita Pit, as well as Business Industry Specialist at the Small Business Resource Collaborative, and has served as the multiple unit owner of nine Subway Sandwiches throughout Albuquerque. After receiving her Bachelor of Science from the University of Arizona, she received a Master of Arts with merit from Bournmouth University Regent’s Business School in London. In addition to her role on the LifeROOTS Board of Directors, she was also recently appointed to the Board of the Girl Scouts of New Mexico Trails, and is a Volunteer Wish Granter at Make-a-Wish of New Mexico. As a Board Member, she is committed to helping to serve the needs and give a voice to those with disabilities in the community, and her insight and experience in both the local business and restaurant communities will play an instrumental role in the upcoming LifeROOTS Pi(e ) Day Event – one of the organization’s most important annual fundraisers.
“Both Dawn and Leticia bring valuable experience in various aspects of business and strategic planning to our Board,” says Kathleen Cates, LifeROOTS CEO. “We are excited to work with them as we continue to serve the needs of those with disabilities in our community.”
