Pi(e) Day Event 2020

On Tuesday, March 10th – a few days before the actual national “Pi Day” holiday and before we entered the “new normal” that we know today, LifeROOTS held our 6th Annual Pi(e) Day fundraiser event.  This year’s event was held at a spectacular new location – Vara Winery – and, in addition to a large assortment of sweet and savory pies available for sampling and purchasing, featured a special “Pi-Ella” (paella) dish created by Vara Winery chefs

Once again, our Pi(e) Day event was a big success, with pie-loving families from throughout the region enjoying a great evening fun and fundraising.

The annual event has grown into one of the region’s most anticipated (and delicious) family fundraisers, and this year featured pies from many of the area’s top bakeries and restaurants, including Christy Mae’s, Chello, Pizza 9, Red Rock Roasters and daVinci’s Pizza.  LifeROOTS was once again honored to have US Bank serve as a Title Sponsor for the fundraiser.

In addition to being a great way to raise funds, the event also once again made news throughout the region – helping to spread awareness about LifeROOTS and our mission.  This year’s event was featured in a major story in the Rio Rancho Observer/Albuquerque Journal, as well as Albuquerque the Magazine.  Kathleen Cates was also interviewed on a number of radio shows in the weeks prior to the event to help create additional awareness about the event and LifeROOTS, with appearances on BIG98 with Chaz and 94 Rock iHeart Media.  Both Kathleen Cates and Vara Winery chef Javier Montaño were the featured guests on KRQE-TV’s “KRQE This Morning” to talk about the upcoming event – with Chef Montaño preparing a ceviche during the segment’s cooking demonstration to get people excited about the event and the beautiful new location.  In addition, KOB-TV’s Steve Stucker came to LifeROOTS Menaul site to “SALUTE” the staff for the life-changing work we  do – bringing Blake’s Breakfast Burritos and coffee for the crew for their “Morning Salute” segment, and letting us throw a few pies at him to help promote this year’s Pi(e) Day event!

Thanks to all who continue to make our Pi(e) Day event such a successful fundraiser for LifeROOTS!
